Which care may help each condition?

Here is a quick look at the conditions we see and the care the doctor may use. The doctor builds your care plan from what fits you after your exam. Not every option suits every person.

Condition by Condition

How we approach each condition

Low back pain

Low back pain is pain between the bottom of your ribs and the top of your legs. It often comes from lifting, long hours sitting, poor sleep or an old injury. The doctor checks how your spine and hips move and may use adjustments, spinal decompression or massage. Many patients report feeling better. Results vary.

Neck pain

Neck pain is pain or stiffness anywhere from the base of your skull to your shoulders. It often comes from posture, looking down at screens, or sleeping in an awkward position. The doctor checks how your neck moves and may use gentle adjustments and other therapies.

Headaches

A tension headache or cervicogenic headache is a headache that starts in the muscles or joints of the neck. The doctor checks your neck and upper back for tight or stuck areas and may use adjustments and massage. If you have a sudden, severe headache unlike any before, call 911 or go to the emergency room.

Sciatica

Sciatica is pain that runs from your low back down the back of 1 leg. It happens when the sciatic nerve, the large nerve that runs down each leg, is pressed or irritated. The doctor looks for the cause and may use adjustments or spinal decompression. If you lose control of your bladder or bowels, or both legs go numb, go to the emergency room right away.

Disc injury

A disc is the soft cushion between 2 bones in your spine. A herniated disc is when the soft center pushes out and may press on a nerve. The doctor uses your exam and X-rays, and any MRI you already have, to decide if spinal decompression may help.
